Earthy Tones

Historically, the primary source of dyes has been from different natural substances. Since the mid-19th century, however, humans have produced artificial dyes to achieve a wider range of colors and to create more stable dyes which will resist washing and general use. Natural dyed yarn has a special focus in the Gallery. The natural dyes, displayed in the Gallery have been extracted from different sources like root, jackfruit, lac, , pomegranate, catechu, indigo, etc.
